Sciagraphy (2013)
Sciagraphy is a project that examines the shadows made by light and left by cyanotype chemistry. These abstract photographs explores relationships between photography and painting, light and shadow and the unpredictability of the fluidity of photographic chemistry and its relationship with, and manipulation by, other elements. Heat, air and light. The range of tones and shade of the Prussian blues, reflections of light and dark, is reminiscent of deep pools of water. Narcissus came to mind, when he saw his own reflection in the water and fell in love. Then that of Icarus who flew too close to the blinding sun, the heat from which melted the wax of the wings Daedalus had created, causing him to fall to his death.
